Palm Beach County’s equivalent of the Emmy Awards for student filmmakers is ready to roll ‘em.
Film students enrolled in Florida high schools and colleges can submit their entries for the 2012 Student Showcase of Films between now and Monday, Jan. 23.
This is the 17th year for the student showcase, a collaboration of the Palm Beach International Film Festival and the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission.
It’s also the largest statewide film competition and awards ceremony for Florida’s student filmmakers.
The juried competition recognizes outstanding students by presenting more than $10,000 in scholarships and awards in six film categories: feature/shorts, documentary, animation, commercial/PSA, music video and an audience award.
There also are screen writing and poster competitions.
Honoring the legacy of Burt Reynolds, the festival awards an annual scholarship bearing his name, plus a Sara Fuller Student Scholarship through Film Florida.
The awards show to announce the winners will take place at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University on Wednesday, March 14 at 10 a.m.
To submit through the online application program, students should go online to the Student Showcase of Films website at pbfilm.com/studentshowcaseoffilms.
